¶ IFR
ALL AIRCRAFT: Initial climb 5000. Tower must instruct aircraft to fly runway heading. On initial climb, approach will assign vectors to initial route fix.
¶ IFR Clearance
IFR (RNAV) Example:
Cleared to Miami International Airport via radar vectors to KAILA then as filed. Maintain 5000, expect FL340 10 minutes after departure. Departure frequency Atlanta Approach 128.1, squawk 2001.

Cobb County International Airport is surrounded by class D airspace. Aircraft entering class D airspace VFR require two-way communication with ATC and an operational transponder. 7400.2 Chapter 17, Section 2.
VFR Departure Example:
Southbound departure approved. Remain clear of the Atlanta Class Bravo. Maintain VFR at or below 2,000. Runway 27, taxi via A.
VFR Local Pattern Example:
Local traffic approved. Pattern altitude 2000’, expect left closed traffic runway 27, squawk VFR.

Ground is responsible for all taxiways. Aircraft do not need push and start or clearance to move on the ramp. Simply “advise when ready to taxi.”

Aircraft should be advised to climb to 1600 then climbing right turn to 3500 on heading 300 and handed off to the approach or center controller if available.

- Arriving jet aircraft use 27. ILS is available only on runway 27.
- Arriving GA aircraft use 09.
